One of the most beautiful and striking stained glass styles out there today is the Art Deco style. The Art Deco style reached it’s height of popularity between the years 1925 and the 1940’s. Art Deco stained glass is unique in many ways, firstly, because it incorporates bright colors and also because it uses different geometric shapes as well as mathematical concepts intertwined within one another. Art Deco is also known for utilizing linear symmetry within the intricate designs. The Art Deco style integrates various shapes and colors such as flower and plant designs as well as butterflies and feminine figures. This uniqueness is what makes this stained glass style interesting and one-of-a-kind.

As of late, stained glass has had a resurgence in a big way with many people choosing to incorporate Art Deco stained glass in their homes and offices for a modern twist on traditional window coverings. The entire look of art deco stained glass is distinctive, and also conveys a feeling of artistic sensibility and exciting whimsy! Choose to utilize Art Deco stained glass in a foyer for the ultimate entryway that is worthy of attention and praise. Or instead, place art deco stained glass in a bathroom for an unexpected burst of color and beauty. The best aspect about art deco stained glass is that it looks great in any room of a home or office, and since it is stained glass, it always allows a beautiful light to shine through creating the most opulent appearance possible. Another great aspect about Art Deco stained glass is that it perfectly coordinates with a wide range of different decor styles, especially the modern and clean look of the newest furniture and wall designs. The best decor style to couple with stained glass is clean and streamlined in muted colors and shades such as white, cream, beige, and even black or charcoal. Wrought iron banisters perfectly match the look of Art Deco stained glass, as does traditional wood flooring in a dark grey shade, black shade, or even rich-looking deep cherry wood.

Stained Glass Fantasy

Stained Glass Fantasy Window

Stained Glass Fantasy Window

I recently had the pleasure of designing and fabricating a stained glass window for a man who wanted a fantasy life scene for his wife’s anniversary gift.  Based on Beauty and the Beast, it was to have 5 panels with each depicting a story in his life.  He married his wife in a different location every year so 3 of the panels were of the places he had married her; one of a wind mill, another with dolphins and another in a hot air balloon.   The 4th panel would depict his two children standing on the beach in front of Catalina Island.  The main panel is based on the design of Beauty and the Beast dancing together.  The resulting stained glass window is pictured.   What a lovely way for a man to show his love for his wife.

Stained Glass Archery Panel

Stained Glass Archery Panel

This is my latest stained glass window project made for a family of archers.  It is slated to be used in a large kitchen cabinet.  The panel incorporates a variety of glass including the highly textured Armstrong glass of the quiver.  Both son’s of the parents shoot competitively and were quite impressed by this piece stating that the quiver looks very realistic.  Below  is a close up of the quiver glass.
